I just fell in love

... with this dress from the new Summer 2012 collection over at Simplicity.

Isn't it lovely?
Of course Cynthia Rowley. Oh I love her perspective.
Light, summery, flowy, classy but shashy at the same moment. Would look great with a cropped jacket or cardigan. For a simple walk, but also for work and why not a special occasion. The right fabric will get the best out of this pattern.
I mostly like the sleeveless version the model is wearing.
Look at the contrasting lines. Back and front has the same shape.
Combination of curves and geometric shapes.
Lovely, just lovely.
I'm going to spent the rest of the day daydreaming about it!

I can't get enough

Why is this happening to me? New patterns on the market and I still haven't got in my hands the ones I ordered a few weeks ago. I want them all. I want a huge library of pattens. And of course, being me, I need a super system for categorizing, organising and finding. This time the new patterns are from Vogue. Let's take a look.

Donna Karan
She's always my favorite.

V1280

Super elegant dress by Donna Karan of course

V1281

Simple but so elegant dress by Tracy Reese

V1285

I so love the back

V1286

This dress, by Tom and Linda Platt

V1283

kind of resembles this, in a more peaceful way!

V1259

I usually don't like asymmetric garments,
but there's something about this one

V8791

You can see the rest of the new Vogue Patterns, that didn't quite catch my eye here.

Sneak peek

I thought I should give a real knit project a try. Over the years I've knitted a few scarves, but this time I wanted a blouse or a cardigan. I saw this cute yarn on sale and I found a pattern of an (supposed to be) easy cardigan. This is the progress I made last night.

Once again I chose mohair. I love it's texture, but it's not the easier yarn to knit with, especially with my skills. If I make any mistakes they can't be undone, because it's impossible to undo any stitches. So far so good! The goal is to make this cardigan

from this book

Wish me luck!

Sew me to look like her!

I'm so happy when this happens!
Remember that McCall's lace dress pattern by Phoebe Couture (6505) I told you about the other day and then I ordered on sale?

This pattern is ideal for lace, because it has minimal seams.
Look what I found

This is Lauren Conrad in her Note by Marchesa dress.
It looks identical to me!
Ok it's not, but it's very close and with the right lace choice you can make it.

The basic difference is the back.
The McCalls pattern has a deeper back, while the Marchesa dress doesn't.

Now I love it even more!

Line Art

Without being certain about that,
I also think the Marchesa dress has an under-dress with spaghetti straps,
while the McCalls dress is one piece.

Happy sewing everyone

New McCall's patterns

for spring 2012. I know it's too early. Winter has not shown it's real face here yet, but we can think of sewing ahead, right? I couldn't help but noticing these cute patterns.

M6518
This would be lovely for the office and I do have a lot of waist belts to match it, hmmm let's think about it...

M6505
I so want this and I did get a new lace the other day! That pattern is ideal for lace, look at the minimal seams.

M6514
Not really my style, but it sure would be comfortable for dance class.

M6531
I loooooove the raglan sleeves so much.

M6517
Isn't the transparent one an interesting idea? I wonder where I could find suitable material for that ... and if my machine will like to sew it!

M6519
Multiple pattern envelopes! My favorites, jacket, top, patns, dress and skirt.

M6489
Last but not least, an ideal dress for strech knits. I'm so glad to see a sleeved version! Why don't they have dresses with sleeves?

These are mine!

A childish statement to show my happiness about having these lovely patterns in my hands.
Oh I'm going to have so much fun sewing these lovely garments.

Lovely jacket by McCall's. I love its shape.

Beautiful basic dress, with pencil skirt.
I believe the black and white choice will make any woman look slimmer.
An ombre effect could be created too.

Trench coat!
I actually bought this one for the black coat option.
Lovely neck and sleeves.

Oh I wanted this dress pattern sooooo bad.
Look at the shape of it.
Prints will work good too, because of the few seems.

One more dress from Butterick.

You know I keep saying I don't have enough blouses...
so here is one more pattern...for the pattern stash, cause I haven't sewn anyone yet!

M5661

I hope I'll be able to sew this one during October.
I would first have to find out how to deal with a two sided fabric...
Any ideas? Especially about the hems...

M5913

And finally, my pride.
I fell in love with this dress. Vogue and Donna Karan of course!
I don't have any fabric that will do in my stash, so this calls for some fabric shopping!
As if I wouldn't anyway! ha ha
